Editorial Review

This small, cosy cafe, situated across the road from the main shops at Ashgrove, has recently turned some heads with its new ideas and displays. Home is a little different from your average cafe. To start with it looks impressive, like something out of a Better Homes magazine, and not only does it serve good food, it also sells home wares and decorative items such as rugs, throws, furnishings, lamps and cushions. So while you are sipping on your cappuccino and catching up on the gossip, you can admire the range of fleece blankets that would so perfectly complement your lounge room setting.

Home also gives you a break from the anklebiters with a separate children's play area at the back of the cafe containing toys, a television and a DVD player that's guaranteed to keep them distracted - at least until you finish your meal. Home boasts an extensive breakfast menu with all the usuals and a few extra perks. Try the herb-infused egg and bacon pie with warm tomato salad, or the eggs Florentine with smoked salmon, wilted spinach and tarragon hollandaise. Lunch offers an assortment of gourmet sandwiches, burgers, salads and more substantial options.

Darren: Very impressed by the new offerings for books - I asked one of the staff if they kept a particular novel and they took my details and advised that the owner would do their best to source it for me: problem solved! They also make all their own desserts and the food smells amazing, best tasting coffeee in the area - and i know this because I've tried all the other coffee in the area and the others just don't compete. Brigid: Best cafe I've been at for a while, great atmosphere, great people and really good food. (25 July 2007)

Bella: Warm friendly atmosphere with beautiful food...the breakfast bruschetta was fanatsic! (10 May 2007)
